    Really impressed by the flavor intensity and complexity. By far the best Indian flavors I've had since coming to SF. my only disappointment was that the wraps were closer to the tortilla end of the paratha-tortilla spectrum. I guess that's what they mean by their 'ethnic confusion' tag line...

    The rustic cool interior and creative menu make this a new anchor for Hayes Valley, and their consistently excellent execution makes it one of my favorite spots in the city. The pastas are notable. Great wine list and cocktails as well. Grab a seat at the bar if you can't snag a reservation; it's reserved for walk-ins and you can enjoy the full menu there.

    Beautiful new(ish) outpost of Blue Bottle. Love the old tiled floors and huge windows. Best on a weekend when the bankers have retreated, and a calm atmosphere reigns. Update: ambiance completely compromised by loud new bar across the lobby.

    My new favorite Italian in SF. An emphasis on local ingredients and some more unusual pairings that verge on wider-Med influences (tomatoes, yogurt, pomegranate seeds...). Homemade pasta was excellent. Sit outside to enjoy the quiet, leafy street scene.

    Factory showroom for traditional Californian ceramics. I love their selection of art and design books and magazines, perfectly placed across from a long, low couch. Blue bottle coffee, a lovely florist, and art gallery/exhibition space also in the same building makes it feel like a real community gathering spot.
