Wonderful sandwich spot inside Cineteca Nacional. They meatball sandwich and the Cuban are some of the favorites, also they have a weekly pre fix menu. Perfect option before or after a movie.

Top-notch cuisine with a very neighbourhoody vibe. Super popular, especially on Saturday so be prepared to wait. It's worth it though.
Good coffee.
So many choices in this historic bakery. Worth a stop in even if you're not hungry. Fresh trays are constantly being brought out.
Good Sonorian-style seafood tacos. Go for the shrimp and the marlin.
Outstanding and popular seafood joint. The aguachile and fish with two sauces were standouts.
Lovely place with good coffee and pastries. Reminds me of being in New Orleans...
A nice building with a small and focussed collection of industrial design on the top floor and, currently, the new MEX airport on the first.
Nice menswear shop.
A very fine Barragán project. Easily the most intimate visit we had, tours are given by the owner or his son; both have lots of stories to tell about its creation, the architect, and the house's many noted visitors!
Do. Not. Miss.
Outstanding cuisine, cool atmosphere in the old stables of Casa Prieto López next door. You eat surrounded by books, elevated above the old lava flow from a volcano.
One of Barragán's finest projects. Worth a trip out. Make sure to pop into the old stables next door, now an excellent restaurant, cafe and art centre with a good small shop.
Excellent quality (and good value) ceramics. Worth a trip out from the centre.
Love the coffee. Love the place.
Totally awesome. Sofia Garcia Osorio has a real gem here with her Mexican slow food. All the ingredients are as local as they can be, beans are cooked in an olla and corn ground on a metete. The restaurant literally has no name and it doesn't look like anything from the street...but it sure is special. Not to be missed.

Very small but some nice pieces. Wouldn't go out of my way to visit though.
Outstanding modern architecture from D Chipperfield. There's a permanent collection that they put away for temporary exhibits. Good cafe on site and excellent lighting throughout make it an enjoyable visit no matter what's on.
Interesting outside; inside is an architectural nightmare with a terrible layout and childish detailing. The collection is hit and miss as well. It is free so decide for yourself but I wouldn't waste time here...go to the Jumex across the street instead.
Cheap, local and awesome. Get the cochigringa, con queso or panucho and an excellent homemade horchata. A good break from the nearby Jumex or Soumaya museums.
Outstanding brutalist building with a changing series of temporary exhibits. Excellent shop and cafe too! A good contrast to the nearby Anthropology Museum.
Excellent shop at a great museum. Good selection of books (including architecture guides) and quality crafts. Recommended even if you're not visiting the museum.

Lovely historic and traditional sweet shop.
Intimate little market with various upmarket food stalls. Looked like a nice atmosphere but we only tried this place, located on the front side to the west of the main entrance. Artesian ice creams and frozen yoghurt in a dozen or so good flavours, including chai (excellent).
Good coffee. But not as good as Cafe Avellaneda nearby!
Outstanding. A very emotional experience. If you're there on a Sunday be sure to book the Fridabus too for transport to Diego Rivera's Anahuacalli Museum.
Supposedly the best tostadas in the city can be found in this market. There are quite a few stalls selling them. The most popular one is "Las Originales" at the back and it's damn tasty. Go for the Tinga de Pollo, Salpicón and the Jaiga (blue crab). And any of the excellent juices. Don't be intimidated by the line, it goes quickly. Also note the market itself, which is an excellent Félix Candela structure.
Excellent coffee roasted with passion and served with pride.
Amazing. Yucatáni cuisine, on the second floor of a nondescript building. Get the cochinita, sopa de lima and whatever they've got for desert.
The main temple of the Aztecs, only rediscovered in the late 20th century.

Want to go. Via Gabi. Go for lunch and get the mole negro—chicken leg is braised until tender and topped with a rich thick dark mole sauce that's smokey, sweet, and slightly spicy. Make tacos out of it with the accompanying tortillas for utter perfection in a meal.

Come here if you fly in on a red-eye. Sells out by 9am. Cafe de olla and the chicharonnes rojo are a must. Milanesa is also tasty, with a deliciously refreshing avocado salsa.
